It s debut in the summer,Fox clearli ha some high-ish hope for The Good Guys. which is still kind of a dead period for broadcast script programming, but thei ve alreadi given it a slot in their fall schedule. Admittedly, thei ve put it on Friday, aka the Timeslot of Doom. And it didn t so well in the rate last night. The network air a preview episod last night befor the Idol result show, and although The Good Gui isn t perfect, there ar three thing that have convinc me to stick with it:

1. The Mustache

a role that s 180 degre awai from The West Wing s Josh Lyman. Overweight,Bradlei Whitford is a revel as booz loser cop Dan Stark. with the slurri swagger and the vacant stare of a man who pour beer into hi coffe cup, Stark s basic Sipowicz without the tragic subtext. The geniu of Whitford s perform start with hi mustache, which is gorgeou in it grungi awfulness.

2. The Mustache

and the soundtrack is pack full of retro-rock.  On a deeper level,Whitford s porno- stach is the most visibl exampl of the show s veri particular 70s-era tone. The show s color scheme tend toward leisure-suit brown. the show is an explicit move backward from the CSI brand of serious, scientif crime-solving. That s a good thing: it s a kick to see a cop show where nobodi wear a lab coat.

3. The Mustache

The Good Gui is a compil of veri differ tones. Stark and hi straitlac partner Bailei plai by Colin Hank work in the Properti Theft divis of the polic force,Th great thing about a mustach is that it can be ridicul and awesom at the same time. Right now. which mean lot of dull work like chase down stolen humidifiers. That indic a kind of cop version of Park and Recreation. But the show also want to have some action: the first episod had it fair share of gunfight and car chases, which mostli dragged.
